In a few words
The primary objective of this seminar is to gather specialists in the field of ‘education for sustainability within physical education (PE)’ to map current practices and develop a comprehensive proposal outlining various ways to promote sustainability through PE.
This seminar will bring together experts in sustainability within physical education (PE) to discuss current practices and create strategies for promoting sustainability through PE. Using design thinking and design fiction pedagogies, participants will explore sustainability topics, moving from understanding problems to creating solutions.
Participants will share their work on sustainability in PE through presentations followed by discussions to foster collaborative learning. The seminar also features "playshops," providing interactive sessions focused on evaluating and designing sustainable PE practices. Volunteers can join a Delphi study to refine sustainability actions.
Day 1 focuses on understanding and defining sustainability challenges in PE, including ignite talks and group synthesis exercises. Day 2 centers on ideation and prototyping, featuring empathy-building activities and designing sustainable actions.
Outcomes include a synthesis report, a Delphi study to validate proposed solutions, and a Special Interest Group (SIG) on sustainability in PE to continue progress after the seminar. Results will be presented at the AIESEP 2025 Conference in Florida.
The seminar is limited to 60 participants. Fees are 150 CHF for members, 250 CHF for non-members, and 50 CHF for students, with discounts for participants from developing countries. Registration includes access to sessions, materials, and coffee breaks. An optional banquet is available for an additional fee.
